5 Laws of Sales
My friend and WCR associate, Ricki Taylor, with Synovus Mortgage, Inc. is pretty awesome. She sends me motivational messages that really keep me moving - and thinking!
Sales, the highest and often the lowest paid profession in the world, and according to some the most exciting (yes!) when homes are selling, and the most depressing when they are not.
Today she offered Five Laws of Sales:
• An objection in motion tends to stay in motion- In sales it is called the "Law of Momentum." When things are going well for you in sales, take advantage of your hard work, good fortune and positive motivation to take more action! The famous humorist Will Rogers said, "Even if you are on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there!"
• For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction- In sales it is the "Law of Numbers." The more action you take (sales contacts, marketing efforts, networking, meetings, phone calls) the opposite reaction is the people you contact take action and buy.
• In order for an object to change direction, a force must be acted upon it. In sales this is "The Law of Decision." Nothing happens until you take action. You have to take action daily or you get two days behind! Oprah Winfrey said, "It doesn't matter who you are, where you come from. The ability to triumph begins with you. Always." Make the decision today to take just one extra action!
• The amount of passion you feel about something determines the amount of action you will take. This is not a law of physics but it is a key ingredient in sales success. If you are not passionate about helping people, sales will get old fast! Earl Nightingale said, "The key that unlocks energy is desire. It's also the key to a long and interesting life. If we expect to create any drive, any real force within ourselves, we have to get excited!"
• The final law is the "Law of Learning." The more we know about our profession, our prospects, new innovations and even ourselves the more success we will find in life. When you are through learning, you are through! Make these five laws work for you and unlimited success will be yours beyond your wildest dreams.
I find selling homes in St. Augustine to be one most rewarding. Of course when that Short Sale deal falls through, or an appraisal does not come in at the right price, it is frustrating. I am fortunate to have friends in the business who can help keep me excited and my passion for selling real estate burning.
